MasterCard® and EMV FAQs

MEMBER ALERT: 
Don't forget that your VISA debit card was upgraded to a MasterCard chip card. Your former VISA debit card was deactivated on Wednesday, November 9. Please ensure your MasterCard is activated and cut up our old VISA card as it is no longer valid. Also, edit any auto payments to reflect your new card number.

Your Carolina Collegiate debit card is going through some enhancements that will improve security and give you better benefits! We will soon be sending you an Enhanced Consumer Debit MasterCard® that will replace your Visa® debit card. The number on your card will change and an EMV chip will be added. There will be uninterrupted account access. The purchases you make will still be deducted from your existing checking account. Please make sure your address is up-to-date so your new card is sent to the right address.

Why is my Visa® card switching to MasterCard®?

We want to provide our members with the best options and benefits available. Therefore, we have switched to MasterCard® to improve security against fraud and give you better benefits.

When will my new card arrive?

Your new card is expected to arrive by the end of September 2016.

Will my PIN change?

No, your pin can stay the same unless you wish to change it. You will be able to set your pin number when activating your card with a simple phone call at 1-800-567-3451.

Will the new MasterCard® have a microchip (EMV)?

Yes, your new debit card will have the EMV chip to improve security with all your transactions. 

What are some of the MasterCard® benefits?

Your new MasterCard® is accepted worldwide, has cash access at ATMs worldwide, liability protection for unauthorized purchases, MasterCard® Global Service, Identity Theft Resolution Services, MasterCard® Airport Concierge, Chip Technology, Apple Pay, and many more! Click here for more information. 

Will there be additional cost with this switch?

No! There is no fee for your new MasterCard®.

If I have multiple accounts will each account receive a new card?

Yes, each account will receive a new card. To check which card is linked to each account simply call 803-227-5555 (toll free: 800-467-5861) and a representative will be happy to help you!

My new debit card does not have the same image as my old card, can I change this? 

Yes, for a limited time you will be able to select the image of your choice for your new debit card at our branches free of charge!
